Health & Leisure

Our C.A.T.C.H ® Model recognises just how beneficial it can be to live an active lifestyle filled with fun activities and socialising. Here at Budwood we ensure that the children in our care have plenty of access to rewarding and enriching activities, and staff have access to a car to ensure that young people are able to get the most out of their local area.

Having Fun Together

Hobbies, interests and socialisation are all essential parts of feeling happy and developing our sense of self. We encourage children to discover new hobbies and explore new parts about themselves.

Our young people have the opportunity to enjoy dozens of fun days out and activities with the staff and other children. Opportunities include:

  • Games outings to play pool, bowling, or sports
  • Adventurous days out at themes parks and funfairs
  • Picnic’s, walks and visits to the beach
  • Fun activities at home like cooking together and playing board games
  • Relaxing activities like gaming together or watching a TV show
  • The opportunity to celebrate holidays together in a family style setting, such as religious celebrations and birthdays

Health & Wellbeing

Ensuring the health and wellbeing of the young people in our care is of upmost importance. While preparations are made for a young person to move into a Budwood home, we will request information about the child’s medical history to ensure that we are fully prepared to meet their needs and make any reasonable adjustments.

Within the first 10 days of staying at Budwood, staff will support a new young person to register with local health services including a doctor’s surgery, dentist and opticians, to ensure their continued health whilst staying with us.

Promoting a Healthy Lifestyle

We promote healthy behaviours in all aspects of life at Budwood, such as encouraging healthy eating and regular exercise. We fund our young people to join clubs and healthy activities including:

  • Joining a local gym
  • Taking part in swimming lessons
  • The opportunity to join clubs such as the Cadets
  • The opportunity to join a sports club or class, including football, dance, gymnastics, etc.

We ensure that every child has the ability to get active in the local area, so that they can discover and nurture their talents, make new friends locally, stay healthy and feel a sense of belonging and achievement.

“Being able to be a part of their lives, and also learn new skills alongside them, is just really exciting and rewarding.”
