Support

BudWood provides young people with 24-hour support. At least one member of staff will be available at all times in the home.

As stated above, support is delivered by a staff team who have undertaken training in therapeutic parenting, caring for a child with an attachment disorder, as well de-escalation and managing behaviour. We recognise that the majority of young people referred to the service will have experienced loss, possible previous placement breakdowns with foster parents and had adverse childhood experiences. They will need trained staff who are responsive, calm and accepting.  The staff team is also provided with clinical supervision from a qualified therapist in trauma and attachment.

Each young person will have a named key worker who will ensure quality 1-1 time is given to focus on skills based work – such as peer relationships, internet safety, job interview skills etc.  Additionally, emotional support will be given around dysregulated behaviour, understanding the triggers and working towards more socially accepted management of stress.

Staff will have access to a car, and will be able to provide transport within a reasonable distance.
