Assistant Manager

Location:  Southampton

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week (flexible working (a rota pattern will include either a Saturday or Sunday every other week), day and twilight shifts.

Salary: £24 – 26K year (plus travel expenses for use of own car, pension, and meals on shift)

We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to co-manage alongside the House Manager a 4 bedded therapeutic residential home for young people with complex needs. The home’s Assistant Manager will ensure the practice within the home is of a considerably high standard, nurturing and therapeutically driven to ensure the best outcomes for our young people.

The role will suit a senior support worker who is looking to progress their career in residential care.

Alongside the Home Manager, the successful candidate will manage the day to day operations of the home, supervise the staff, engage with the young people as required and lead on the professional networking with our Local Authority customers.

The successful candidate must be flexible, have an understanding of working with traumatised young people, be knowledgeable about attachment disorder and promote an environment that is safe and nurturing.

Background

Budwood Limited is a provider of Supported Living Homes for young people aged 16+ who have complex needs and are leaving care. The ethos of the home’s are that staff provide safe, nurturing and therapeutic parenting to young people in family style homes.

Support is provided 24/7 by residential support workers who are supported by a clinical team to ensure their practice remains therapeutically driven and with an awareness of the impact of complex trauma and adverse childhood experiences.

Budwood is family owned, with the Director having over 25 years experience in working with looked after children.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Assistant Manager for our 4 bedded home in Southampton.

The successful candidate will have a very good knowledge of therapeutic care for young people with complex needs, and have an understanding of the impact of trauma and abuse on young people.

They will be able to manage safeguarding concerns, lead on risk management and importantly be IT literate to ensure compliance with our electronic systems and GDPR.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Diploma level 3 in Health and Social Care, Children and Young People or equivalent.
  • At least two years’ experience of working within a residential children’s home or Supported Living service
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Understanding of Equal Opportunities and Anti discriminatory practice.
  • Understanding of The Children Act 1989 and 2004 and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
  •  Experience and training in Safeguarding young people.

Desirable

  • At least five years’ experience of working with young people.
  • At least two years’ experience of supervising staff.
