Residential Support Worker

Salary: £9 per hour, salary c. £23,600
For this role the rota system is 4 nights on and 4 nights off. Typical shifts are 5pm – 7am (sleep in). Average 50 hrs a week including sleep-ins. However, we are also able to consider applicants who wants to do a smaller number of shifts per week.

Budwood Residential Support Workers are focussed on making a real difference to the lives of children and young people who have suffered adverse experiences. Budwood Support Workers are creative, energetic and most importantly they enjoy engaging with teenagers. You will communicate and work closely with the Budwood team around the child – the house manager, a senior social worker, a therapist / psychologist, and an education consultant.

Location: Dorchester

Applicant Requirements

  • Must be over 22 years old.
  • Experience of working with children and young people.
  • Be qualified to NVQ Level 3 Health & Social Care or equivalent or be willing to undertake the qualification.
  • To have a passion and commitment towards working with young people.
  • To be friendly and supportive, and to have the ability to empathise with a non-judgemental approach.
  • To be flexible and able to cope with stressful situations.
  • To work well as part of a team and be able to accept direction and guidance.
  • To be sensitive to people of different backgrounds and be able to communicate well.
  • To be able to manage challenging behaviour, helping to develop self-control techniques.
  • To have the flexibility and willingness to work shift patterns which includes weekends and sleeping in duties.
  • A Driving Licence is essential, and applicants will have to have access to a vehicle.
